Deedee – The French Selection of a Worldwide Legend

The story of Deedee does not begin in a modern breeding room, but in the French underground scene of the mid-2000s. Around 2006–2007, a grower known as “Riri” in the Toulouse area selected an exceptional phenotype from Reservoir Seeds’ Sour Diesel IBL, purchased at auction on Seedbay (itself based on East Coast Sour Diesel genetics that had already crossed the Atlantic). This cut quickly became legendary on French-speaking forums: intense fuel aromas paired with a distinctive lavender note, a strong stretch, an explosive stacking of calyxes, and a refined cerebral high that many considered one of the most powerful Diesels they had ever smoked. With time and scientific advances on the essential role of terpenes in mood and the duration of the felt effect, we believe this very particular lavender terpene strongly contributes to the reputation of its unique effect. The “Riri cut” spread through private networks and gained cult status across Europe, precisely because authentic elite Sour Diesel clones were hard to obtain on the continent at the time. Growers on ICMag and other forums regularly called it one of the best expressions of the line — more refined and more lavender-leaning than many American cuts, while remaining purely Diesel in character. It was tested publicly (notably at events linked to Spannabis) and praised for its potency and uniqueness.

The FTS collective recovered this elite clone in the Paris region from an underground breeder, a passionate collector of many elite clones, a talented guitarist and reggae producer, who connected with Viking, opened the doors of his garden, and initiated him into breeding. Viking left that first meeting with several gifted elite clones, including the Riri cut, the famous Exodus Cheese, and the Amnesia Core Cut. That encounter was the true starting point of the FTS collective. This breeder was already working in the 2000s on autoflowering plants from Lowryder.

French Touch Seeds then undertook the long process of cubing this elite clone (several backcrosses with a Bubba Kush × Kikiriki male) to capture its essence in regular seed form. The result is Deedee: a plant that carries the French underground’s passion for Sour Diesel all the way into seed packs.
